Reporting of criminal cases increased rapidly in the state of Rajasthan in the past one year, however, once the cops investigated these cases, nearly 40-50 percent of them, turned out to be false.
As per recent Dainik Bhaskar news report, about 46% cases registered by women were false and similar pattern was seen also with cases under the SC and ST Act.
Details
Until November 2020, the state recorded 1,79,557 cases, out of which 57,160 cases turned out to be false post investigation. The cops have also registered FIR on the same. Investigation is further ongoing in 46,254 cases.
- Women Abduction
Nearly 70% cases related to abduction of women have been termed as false by state police.
- Property Related Cases
28% cases registered with the police pertained to property related offences.
- COVID
Due to Covid-19, there had been a drop by 15% in the number of cases registered in the state as compared to the previous year:
- 2019: 213,070 cases
- 2020: 190,000 cases
- Free Registration
Last year, more than 50,000 cases were registered due to free registration and also against in-charge of police stations for not filing cases.
- Kidnapping
The graph of kidnapping cases reduced the most in 2020. While there were 7,617 cases registered 2019, this number reduced to 5,736 in 2020.
- Crimes Against Women
Until November 2020, there have been 32,106 cases registered under crimes against women. Out of these, 10,851 cases turned out to be false. In addition to this, police presented challans in 12,767 cases. As for remaining 8,488 cases, the cops have not reached on any conclusion and the investigating is still ongoing.
- Dowry Related Cases
Out of the 450 registered cases towards murder for dowry, 94 turned out to be false. Similarly, out of 12,926 cases registered for dowry harassment, 4,147 cases turned out to be false.
- Crimes Against Scheduled Caste
In cases of atrocities against Scheduled Castes, the police declared nearly 50% of them to be false. Out of 6,545 cases that were registered under Scheduled Castes until November 2020, cops registered an FIR against 2,295 cases. 1,919 cases are still under investigation.
- Murder
Out of 73 murder cases, the police found 7 cases to be false.
- Rape
Out of 440 rape cases registered in the state, 148 turned out to be false, while 109 are still being investigated.
- Cases Under SC/ST Act
Out of 117 cases under the SC-ST Act, police registered FIRs in 63 of them. 27 case are still under investigation.
1,755 cases were registered under ST Act, out of which 577 turned out to be false. The police considered only 643 to be complaint worthy. For other 535 cases, the cops have not reached on any decision yet.
