A different type of Husband Suicide case has been reported from Rajasthan six days ago. A man ended his life earlier this month and the wife of the deceased has now approached police accusing her mother-in-law and sister-in-law to be responsible, for pushing her husband to take this step.
The wife has also accused her in-laws of constantly pressuring her husband to divorce her.
Background
The deceased, identified as Vishal Dutta, a resident of Pilibanga, married a woman named Kavita on January 28, 2012. Post their marriage, the couple used to teach in different private schools in the same village. They had a good cordial relationship.
However, the man’s mother, identified as Madhu, and his sister, Sandhya alias Siddhi used to allegedly harass Kavita without any reason whatsoever. Due to the alleged verbal abuse and harassment by his mother
and sister on his wife, Vishal would get into frequent fights and quarrels with the duo.
The husband’s relationship with his family strained after the same. However, according to Kavita, the mistreatment by her in-laws towards her turned worse after she gave birth to two daughters.
The couple approached Panchayat many times, however, there was no solution for this problem. After several fights with her in-laws over the years, Kavita left her matrimonial home and went to live with her mother in Pilibanga for some days.
Mother, Sister Forced Man For Divorce
Post Kavita leaving their home, the mother and daughter allegedly started torturing and pressurizing Vishal to divorce his wife. The son (husband) however, kept denying the same and thus the duo then allegedly threw him out of the house.
Man Ended Life
On September 25, Vishal returned to his mother’s house to persuade them to let the couple live happily. However, when they did not agree, Vishal made a call to his wife and told her that the duo was still forcing him to get a divorce. According to the wife, the mother and sister also denied food to Vishal while he resisted the divorce.

On October 2, around 2 in the morning, Kavita got a call stating that her husband had been found lying unconscious in the bathroom. As soon as she learnt about this information, she rushed to her brothers Nishant, Sagar and Praveen.
When the wife reached to her matrimonial home, the neighbours informed her that Vishal had consumed some poisonous liquid, which led to his death.
Wife Lodges Abetment To Suicide Against In-Laws
Kavita then accused her in-laws of abetment to suicide, destroying Vishal’s suicide note, and also pushing for his funeral hurriedly.
On October 13, the wife lodged a formal complaint at Pilibanga police station in the Hanumangarh district with regards to the matter. Based on her statement, the Pilibanga police has registered a case against the two accused.
